Yard Waste Dumpster Rental

Yard Waste Dumpster Rental in Springfield, MO

Storm cleanup, land clearing, a fence line of overgrown hedges finally coming out: yard work makes a pile that a curbside pickup is never going to solve. We take brush, with one rule that shapes the whole job.

Brush and limbs have to be a brush-only load, because brush goes to a separate disposal facility and the landfill will not take it mixed with other debris. Say the word brush when you call and we will set the rental up for it from the start.

The Brush Rule, and Why It Exists

Brush does not go to the landfill. It goes to its own facility, where it gets ground and processed as wood material instead of buried. That is the whole reason for the rule. A load of limbs is welcome there.

A load of limbs with a couple of trash bags, a busted chair, and some drywall in it is not. The landfill will not take that load either, because now it has brush in it. One dumpster, one type of material.

So a brush dumpster is a dedicated load. Limbs, branches, trimmings, and small trees, nothing else riding along. If your project makes both kinds of debris, and storm cleanup usually does, plan on two loads. Tell us both halves on the phone and we will work out the order so you are not waiting on the wrong dumpster.

What Counts as Brush

Brush is the woody material the yard grew on its own: limbs and branches after a storm or a trim, hedge and shrub cuttings off a fence line, small trees taken down entire. Trunk sections need to be cut short enough that two people can lift them.

Vines and root balls knocked clean of dirt. If it came off something living and it did not pass through a sawmill, it almost certainly counts. When you are unsure about one particular pile, describe it when you call and we will tell you which load it belongs in.

What Does Not Count

Anything milled or manufactured is regular debris, not brush. That means treated lumber, fence panels, deck boards, landscape timbers, plastic edging, pots, hoses, and bags of soil amendment. Those go in a standard load, covered on the residential and construction debris pages.

Household garbage and food waste are prohibited in every dumpster we rent, so kitchen scraps and compost stay out of both loads. Chemicals, fuel, and liquids of any kind are out too, which includes leftover weed killer and mixed gas from the chainsaw.

Brush and Yard Waste Hauling in Willard, Strafford, and Ash Grove

We run brush loads across Springfield and out to Willard, Strafford, and the rest of the service area in Greene, Christian, Polk, and Webster counties. Out that direction the lots get bigger and so do the piles, and plenty of properties have a tree line that has been creeping toward the house for years.

Because the dumpster comes in on a trailer behind a pickup rather than a full-size roll-off truck, we can usually set it close to where the cutting is happening. That includes on gravel and grass. That saves the long drag with an armload of limbs, which is the part of brush work that wears people out.

On grass or gravel, protection boards go under the dumpster, which also makes pickup easier. Just point out the spot and mention any low limbs or wires overhead.

Storm Cleanup and Land Clearing

After a bad night of wind, half of southwest Missouri is dragging limbs to the curb at once, and city pickup can take a while to work through it. A brush dumpster on the driveway lets you clear the yard on your own schedule and get the truck back out of the driveway.

Land clearing is the same idea at a bigger scale: opening up a building spot, pushing back a fence line, or taking out a stand of scrub trees. Cut to length as you go, because limbs stacked long and straight fill a dumpster far better than limbs tossed in whole.

Dirt and Sod Are a Heavy Load

Landscaping projects often turn up dirt, sod, clay, and rock, and those belong in the 14-yard, starting at $249. Soil is the heaviest thing a homeowner ever loads, and a dumpster with 4-foot walls keeps the load in a range the trailer should carry. A pure brush load is the opposite, light and awkward, so the 20-yard at $299 with 6-foot walls usually suits it better. Same 14 by 7 foot footprint either way.

What Size Do I Need?

Loading a Brush Dumpster in Springfield Without Wasting the Dumpster

Brush is mostly air, and how you stack it decides whether you need one load or two. Cut limbs down to lengths that lie flat along the floor of the dumpster instead of bridging corner to corner, and lay them in the same direction rather than crisscrossed. Snap or cut the small side branches off the big ones.

Put the heavy trunk sections on the bottom, spread out, and save the leafy tangle for the top where it can be pressed down. Load level with the top rail and stop there, since a load mounded over the rail cannot be tarped or hauled legally. Springy brush likes to rise back up after you walk away.

The rental period is three days, which is enough for a weekend of cutting, and extra days are $20 a day if the tree line takes longer than you thought. You do not need to be home for the drop or the pickup. Weight is billed after pickup, and we go over how that works when you book. What Goes in a Dumpster

Is a Brush Dumpster the Right Load for Your Yard?

Right for

  • Limbs, branches, trimmings, and small trees with nothing else riding along
  • Storm cleanup and land clearing, where the pile is too big for curbside pickup
  • A fence line of overgrown hedges finally coming out

Not the right dumpster

  • A mixed load. Brush goes to its own facility to be ground rather than buried, so a couple of trash bags turns the whole load into a landfill load
  • Dirt and sod, which are heavy enough to be their own conversation before you book
  • A project that makes both kinds of debris. That is two loads, and it is worth telling us both halves on the phone so we can order them properly

Yard Waste Dumpster FAQ: Springfield, MO

Why does brush have to go in its own dumpster?

Because it goes somewhere else. Brush is handled at a separate disposal facility from the landfill, and the landfill will not take a load of mixed debris with brush in it. Once one limb lands on top of the drywall and the old carpet, the whole load is a mixed load and it cannot go to the brush facility either. So brush is accepted, but only as a dedicated brush-only load. Tell us it is brush when you call and we will set the rental up that way.

What counts as brush and what does not?

Brush is the woody material a yard produces: limbs, branches, trunk sections you can lift, hedge and shrub trimmings, and small trees. What does not count is anything milled or manufactured, so treated lumber, fence panels, deck boards, landscape timbers, plastic edging, pots, and bagged soil amendments all belong in a regular debris load instead. Household garbage and food waste are prohibited in any of our dumpsters, and that includes kitchen scraps and compost.

Which size do I need for dirt and sod?

The 14-yard, starting at $249. Dirt, sod, rock, and clay are the heaviest material a homeowner ever loads, far heavier than they look sitting in the yard, and the 14-yard is built for that. A pure brush load is the opposite problem, light and awkward, so the 20-yard at $299 with its 6-foot walls usually fits that better. Both dumpsters take up the same 14 by 7 feet of driveway. Describe the job on the phone and we will pick with you.
